Research Project Abstract
This research analyses the impact of Brexit on the Good Friday Agreement [GFA] in Northern Ireland in the context of Northern Ireland having voted remain. Brexit will impact the working of peace agreements and relations between Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, and the United Kingdom [UK]. The study analyses the conflicting interests within Northern Ireland of a split from the UK, a chronological study of “the Troubles” of Ireland, a legal analysis of the GFA, current opinion polls from Northern Ireland regarding Brexit, and a comparison of concerns, perspectives, and interests in Ireland and Britain on the question of a soft or hard border.
