Non-violent protests possess a form of honor in the American culture. During the Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King stated that for the time, James Lawson was one of the experts in accomplishing non-violent protests. His education, tactics, and words gave crowds the courage to take action against a superior, aggressive force and yet the discipline to not reciprocate such behavior. James Morris Lawson, Jr. made a significant impact to the outcome of the Civil Rights Struggle and the development to equal rights within Nashville, Tennessee all while maintaining the movement’s honor and belief in non-violent activism.
