Description
The first six Chinese bishops of modern times after their consecration, photograph taken with Bishop Francesco Marquetti, Secretary of Propaganda Fide, Cardinal Willem Van Rossum, Prefect of Propaganda Fide and Archbishop Celso Costantini, Papal delegate to China. The three new Chinese bishops from left to right: Joseph Hu Ruoshan 胡若山 for the vicariate apostolic of Taizhou 台州 in Zhejiang; Simon Zhu Kaimin 朱開敏 for the vicariate apostolic of Haimen 海门 in Jiangsu; Philip Zhao Huaiyi 趙懷義 for the vicariate apostolic of Xuanhua 宣化 in Hebei. The three new Chinese bishops from right to left: Melchior Sun Dezhen 孫德禎 for the prefecture apostolic of Lixian 蠡县 in Hebei; Odoric Cheng Hede 成和德 for the prefecture apostolic of Puqi 蒲圻 in Hubei; Aloysius Chen Guodi 陳國砥 for the vicariate apostolic of Fenyang 汾阳 in Shanxi.
