Research Project Abstract

This paper looks to fill a gap in the existing research on foster care and education by obtaining personal accounts of those that were in foster care and are now enrolled in higher education. The current research on foster care and education shows that those that who were in foster care face significant difficulties that has reduced their educational attainment levels. This project uses in-depth interviews to try to understand best the challenges faced by former foster children and how it affected their educational journeys. This research will provide valuable information regarding the effects that being in foster care has on education.
