Research Project Abstract

With the prevalence of dating apps, online networking and a new generation who prefers spending time behind a screen, rather than face-to-face connection, the use of social media has a tremendous impact on our romantic relationships. It is frequently debated whether or not electronic integration has a utopian or dystopian effect on our culture. Social media is changing the way we communicate with each other, and ultimately the results lie within each individual user. Regardless, we ought to explore how to navigate these new pieces of technology that have become a part of our daily lives, especially because our upcoming generation will grow up using these tools from an early age; thus giving them a larger stage, that has never existed before, for communicating and sharing information. In the proposed text, we will examine several facets of ways in which social media has an influence on our interpersonal relationships. These include the effects of social media on our romantic relationships, written diction, formations of online conflict and the benefits of dating in the era of social media.
