Abstract

The theme of "fear of failure" is a unique field in occupational therapy because of the power it has to completely inhibit or affirm occupational participation. Fear of failure is something that has been a struggle in my past and is still part of my life that I'm trying to work on as a person and as an aspiring occupational therapy practitioner.

Even though failing is difficult and sometimes painful, it's amazing to see what rises in its place with time. Because of how unique our fears and perceptions about failure are, we must utilize cultural humility and holistic care to understand the context of the people we are working with.

Even though we all deal with certain fears daily, establishing a strong mindset of viewing failure as an opening for opportunity, instead of a barrier, is crucial. This project was a great opportunity to reflect on my mindset towards addressing failure in my own life and how I can work towards hopefully helping clients address it in their own lives as well.
